| one of my closest friends had a female black lab, who looked VERY much (body wise) like that dalmation in the first pic. she was SOOOOOOO obese, she had to stay pretty much on one floor, because she was seriously too fat to be able to climb the stairs. it was heart breaking watching that dog struggling to get up, much less trying to walk around..... sadly, my words of caution fell on deaf ears.... ultimately the dog was the one who suffered the most. she was SO past to point of being 'spoiled' food-wise.... i see, on a daily basis, FAR more dogs that come to the clinic that are overwieght, as opposed than underweight. i wish the owners would realize that they are actually doing their pets a DISservice, as opposed to a service, by giving them all those treats. much like humans, dogs ARE what they eat. |
